crutches...

...we all have them. Those things that make us feel more secure, more at ease. For me it's my camera. Most of the time it's easier for me to hide behind my camera than to put myself out there. I've been told by several people recently that I'm pretty bad about it, so it got me to thinking. Why is it that some of us feel the need to protect ourselves behind a shield of sorts. Most likely it's a deep-seated insecurity that we're afraid to expose, setting us up for the seemingly inevitable criticism we dread. The reality is that the things that make us feel most insecure and vulnerable probably go unnoticed by those around us. While I know this to be true, it does not stop me from hiding. Will there ever be a time when I am comfortable IN FRONT of the camera? Probably not...but hopefully there will be a day when I don't hate it.

I was on my way home from the dentist the other day and I spotted these guys just hanging out. I drove home, grabbed my camera hoping they would still be chillin' in the field. Tada!
