wild wild west...

...so I'm kind of moving backwards (as far as our trip is concerned) with these pictures. Before California and before the Grand Canyon we were in New Mexico visiting dear friends of ours. We ADORE these people...and now we want to move in with them!! Such a magical place and not anything like what we see here on the East Coast. And let me tell you, dry heat is MUCH better!! I know, hot is hot, but 97 out there is 97...97 here feels like 110 with 50% humidity! And the stars...I've never seen so many stars in my life! Just amazing and breathtaking. So here are some shots from a day we spent with our favorite tour guides...thank you J & R for everything...we love and miss you TONS!!!

Bandelier...cave dwellings

the skeleton cave dwelling
an old church we happened upon near Georgia O'Keefe's home
Valles Caldera...this beautiful valley used to be the top of a volcano...until it erupted
for anyone who saw the movie The Missing, this may look familiar

another cool church that curses photographers with stickers in the feet!
Ghost Ranch
this is the cabin used in City Slickers

our most favorite tour guides...truly the best part of New Mexico

sunset at J & R's house

my first attempt at capturing hummingbirds...quite a few blurry pics, but a couple of decent ones
