:: Happy 235th USA ::


...an amazing collection of individuals representing nearly every place on the globe. I wonder what our forefathers would think of our United States? Did they ever dream as big as it's become? Could they imagine anything beyond the East Coast? Did they realize that what began as a small collection of colonies would someday become 50 glorious states spread over thousands of miles? The visionary genius that brought together a new country is just beyond my comprehension. How amazingly brave they were...a trait that has been passed down from generation to generation and can be seen in the eyes of every person who commits their life to keeping us protected and safeguarding those freedoms that we've come to feel entitled to. Here's the thing though...we're not entitled to it... it's a work in progress that we each need to have a vested interest in and work for. Entitlement scares me...it makes people lazy and apathetic. We all need to realize that it is an ongoing battle to preserve this fragile democracy. 235 years worth of blood, sweat and tears selflessly given by a countless number of noble men and women have kept this mighty yet delicate republic standing strong in the face of unspeakable adversity. We complain...a lot...about the state of our union, but when it comes down to it, there is no where greater than the melting pot we know as the United States of America. 

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
